Welcome to the 'Finn CD Blog' a web diary of my latest CD release. This will probably for the most part be written by myself, however I may get some input from Jedd and even Ollie (if he learns out how to write in time - normally he just hits things with sticks).
21st September 2006 - Walter
Sorry to have been away, have been handicapped slightly by injuring my right elbow, resulting in the cancellation of gigs for a couple of months. Have been told to rest completely which means that for the time being guitar playing is not on the agenda. Should teach me not to do gardening, and serves as a reminder that I'm not indestructable. Will concentrate on completing lyrics for all songs instead.
25th August 2006 - Walter
Another good evening spent working through riffs with Jedd. The riffs keep coming and the songs are taking shape. Two complete arrangements sorted tonight before Stella took over. Looks like we will be concentrating on a 14 strong CD of original songs. Have just about finalised lyrics and titles for all. Will hopefully publish a track listing on next blog.

Have had a big hold up! The server that this website (and many others) is on crashed badly on the 16th, and was restored without anything on it. Have spent most of my time reinstalling software, configuring mail servers, creating websites and shouting at the server company who own it, I'm finally up and running again. Apparently, the server company's IT team recently entered Mastermind, their specialist subject was "answering a completely different question than the one that was asked of them". Customer service - god help us all!

Getting songs into some sort of order. Started putting basic Cubase files together to begin recording. Lyrics now sorted for 8 tracks. Have re-vamped some older songs that I've never released.

Another riff from a drop D tuning. Song ideas now number 20. Will have to get full arrangements done soon as possible while there is still time to record during the summer holidays. Especially important as Oli has to go back to school in September (teaching).

Jedd and myself managed to write lyrics for two songs before Stella got the better of us. Have now set myself a task of completing full arrangements for at least three songs this week.

Songs are coming into shape, titles include 'Take A Walk', 'Someone After All', 'Steal Your Gods', 'This Is Not My Life', 'Heartstrings' and 'Anybody Could Be You'.

Have been listening to the demo tracks in the car singing melodies and testing out lyrics. Thankfully, I'm now able to drive again (following putting my back out). The car is probably the best place to sort out vocal lines as no-one else can hear you. You just look a bit funny to other passing motorists!

Round 2 with Jedd working out riffs etc. The drunken Stella fuelled jam has now resulted in the basis of four songs. This brings the current song count to 18. Will soon have enough material for two CDs let alone one.

The usual happened - Jedd came round, drank a few Stellas and came up with some cracking headbanging riffs. Will try and remember them and work into songs.
The start - March 2006 - Walter
Have in the past made up riffs/songs on my own and with Ollie. Finally started rounding up all the material, with the aim of releasing an orginal CD under the name Finn.
