Formed from the ashes of the Aquatic Weasels, Lix-n-Trix consisted of Walter Eddowes - Guitar, Ted Eddowes - Bass, Phil Urquhart - Drums and Widge Collins as the newly appointed vocalist.
The picture left, taken at one of our visits to Bogiez nightclub, Cardiff, shows us at our heavy metal best.
Playing half rock covers and half original material, Lix'n'Trix were highly enjoyable, enabling me to refine my playing and live performance skills. Covers included Ozzy Osbourne, Dokken, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Deep Purple etc and we were more often than not as tight as a ducks whotsit
Various newspaper reviews stated that we had 'a brute power that was strangely appealing'. More often than not I used to show off, playing behind my head etc, only being restricted by particularily low ceilings in some venues.
Original Material
The self penned stuff we used to play was well received, leading to the recording of 20 or so original tracks, some of which can be accessed from this website (that's if you're a member - best sign up if you're not).
'Scream for me Winchester'
We played all over the place, in good and bad venues. Most of the dodgy gigs were booked by Widge, who never seemed to assess the venue before talking the landlord into booking us.
On one occassion, we turned up to a very posh pub in Winchester, where my marshall stack sank about 6 inches into the shag-pile carpet, and played screaming heavy metal to the Saga over 75s holiday club on a grab-a-granny night. Nothing detered Widge though, he sang his heart out. Didn't get a great response from the 'Scream for me' crowd participation section, but did get one old lady say 'Hello young man, I wish I was 40 years younger'.
