The duo Language Of Thives combined the talents of Bob Rushing - vocals and Walter Eddowes - guitar/vocals.
Bob Rushing was the signer for Lix'n'Trix rival band 'Driving Sideways' who I occassionally played for when their guitarist 'Pete Cook' couldn't make it (I didn't have a gig). When both bands called it a day we decided to carry on gigging as a duo. The live music scene at the time was drying up with pubs preferring duos to bands because of space/volume isssues.
The duo soon became very popular, putting over authentic sounding rock covers with us playing and singing over the backings I created. In fact, we ended up gigging more than ever, travelling as far as London in one direction and Plymouth in the other.
At this time we were supported by top roadie from the Lix'N'Trix days 'Nathan King', who went everywhere with us driving and lugging gear about.
The LOT Band
After gigging for three or so years as a duo, we decided to create a band version of the duo. Many gigs followed as we were now able to offer the duo for smaller venues and the band for bigger events.
The Language Of Thieves band consisted of Bob Rushing - Vocals, Walter Eddowes - Guitar, Todd - Bass, Paul Batchelor - Drums and Andy James - Keyboards.
The Album
Bob and myself recording a CD at the tail end of the band's existance, titled 'Southbound Train', with Lix'N'Trix drummer Phil Urquhart and bassist Jem Mills (who I replaced in Wolfbane).
